Teleconference Q and A
How does teleconference Supervision work technically?
Our groups meet over a secure teleconference line.
How does teleconference learning work dynamically?
The teleconference group works like any other group or class. Every therapist is encouraged to take up a portion of the talking time, to present cases and to bring their thoughts and feelings to the group. After a brief getting-used-to period, people tend to feel as comfortable as if they would be seeing each other face-to-face.
For some therapists, the telephone has become the preferred learning experience. Most therapists feel that t he convenience of the telephone combined with the atmosphere of focused discussion is extremely useful and works as well, if not better, than in person groups.
We recommend that you treat the telephone group as any other group experience in the sense that you should locate yourself in a comfortable place and not engage in any other activity that would distract you.
Why do clinicians choose teleconference supervision groups?
Convenience, ease of learning, access to colleagues and communities without geographic restraints, interest in the experiential components, and a dynamic discussion with therapists from various training backgrounds are some of the advantages of telephone groups.
Clinicians are also drawn to the attention paid to practice building, and are helped by sharing experiences with other practitioners.
How will I know if this is the right experience for me
You will have a good sense after a few sessions whether you are benefiting from the group. We encourage you to speak your mind and let us know what you need!
